Group Equine Therapy at Storybook Farm (EAGALA model Equine Assisted Psychotherapy) Equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) has emerged as a promising, evidence-based intervention for the treatment of trauma and stress-related disorders. EAP offers an option for clients who find traditional talk therapies difficult or ineffective. This ground- based experiential therapy combines horses, a Mental Health Professional, and an Equine Specialist to support clients. Group Support Meeting in a group engages therapeutic forces—like connection, support, and accountability and enables clients to bond with a culture of recovery. Groups can support individual members in times of pain and trouble, and they can help people grow in ways that are healthy and creative. Groups meet monthly with an MAT accredited family physician and an EAGALA certified mental health professional/equine specialist and the equine therapists (horses and donkeys) at Storybook Farms outside of Boonville, MO. $100/session includes group therapy session and a prescription for an FDA approved medication*. *buprenorphine(Suboxone, Zubsolve, Subutex), disulfuram (Antabuse), naltrexone,or varenicline (Chantix)
